Calatrava - Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge

Description of Project: World renowned architect Santiago Calatrava designed the landmark, signature Margaret Hunt Hill bridge that will mark the "gateway" entrance to downtown Dallas. This project will define the experience of entering the city, and will redefine the skyline for decades. Cimolai, Spa created a one of a kind all steel structure to bring the Calatrava vision to life, and Cimolai selected Alpha Testing to verify that this unique structure is assembled and constructed as designed.

Description of Work: Structural steel inspection and testing including welding inspections and welder certifications on 100% of this steel structure. Steel components include the bridge deck support and the central arch - only the driving surface will have typical paving.

Alpha is TxDOT certified by the TxDOT Bridge Division to oversee and perform radiographic, ultrasonic, and magnetic particle testing of the individual weld required. Alpha also certifies all welders involved.  Alpha acts in compliance with TxDOT QAP Section D.15, under the direct observation of TxDOT.
