Project Engineer - Theodore A. (Tony) Janish, PE
Mr. Janish holds BS and MS degrees in Geotechnical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. Mr. Janish, PE, ESN 8331, TxDOT Pre-certified in the 14.00 series, joined ALPHA in 2006 and has been a registered PE since 1987. He has served as TxDOT Project Manager on four TxDOT contracts in the last 5 years. Janish has experience in geotechnical contract management and materials testing management. He has performed FWD studies and also has engineering expertise in detailed retaining wall engineering. He is a principal at Alpha Testing and has worked in Denton and surrounding counties since 1995. His resume (click for Janish Resume) provides additional details.
Availability and Dedication to Denton County Projects
Geotechnical projects are short in duration and are easily assimilated into ongoing operations. Alpha Testing estimates that at any one time no more than 10% of Mr. Janish's time will be required on a monthly basis. Additional support is available in house if needed. Mr. Janish will remain the point of contact and engineer in charge for the duration, including the construction phase. Multiple projects may increase the demands periodically, but this will not stress the existing project delivery system.

Geotechnical Insight
Changes in surface geology across the county will dictate much in sub-grade preparation. Limestone at the near surface in western and extreme southeastern Denton County are typically addresses with 6 to 8 inches of lime, plus a PCC pavement section between 6 and 8 inches. The Woodbine formation in the eastern and central portions of the County presents either clays and silts - handled with lime as above - or sands, which are addressed with cement or lime/cement mixtures. Areas within the outcrop of the Eagle Ford shale are addressed with a lime treated sub base and pavement section as above.
Mentor/Protégé Participation
Alpha Testing is mentoring Addula Consulting Engineers, LLC (ACE) through the Texas Railroad Commission's Mentor/Protégé Program. ACE is a HUB firm, and a certified DBE by the NCTRCA and SCTRCA. ACE can provide all geotechnical services, and is staffed with two registered engineers. Alpha Testing is prepared to utilize ACE in a capacity and in a proportion as desired by our clients.
